Cantica Gaudia
Season of Lent: Wednesday Noonday Prayer
Opening: From the rising of the sun to its going down, let the Name of the Lord be praised.
Psalm: Your word is a lantern for my feet,
A light searching out all my ways.
I have sworn, and am steadfastly purposed
To keep the way of your justice.
I am troubled beyond measure:
Give me life, dear God, according to your promise.
Accept my offerings of praise
And teach me your truths.
My life is always in your hand,
And I do not forget your law.
The ungodly have laid a snare for me:
May I not swerve from your commandment.
Your wisdom have I claimed as my heritage for ever,
It is the very joy of my heart.
I incline my heart to your counsel,
Always, even to the end.Glory to God, who made us, who bears our pain, and who loves us.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.Reading: Is it not amazing...when one sees the action of the Spirit of God, so gentle, ceaseless, inexorable, pressing you bit by bit, whether you like it or not, towards your home?
The Lord’s Prayer: Holy One,
We honor your name.
Let the world know your justice
Here as everywhere.
Give us the food we need
For both the body and the soul.
Forgive us the wrongs we do
As we forgive the wrongs of others.
Keep us safe from the evil
At large or of our own making.
We trust you for you made us and
We are yours, now and always. Amen.Prayer: O God, you beckon us with promises of love; fulfill our desire for you.
You pursue us even when we flee from you; bring us to our right minds.
You delight in us and show us your compassion; make us mindful of the deep need in the world.
You give us the gift of your unbounded love; pour out your love on all the world.
Blessing: And now may the God of hope bring us such joy and peace in believing that we overflow with hope and love.
