Cantica Gaudia

Ordinary Time, Fall: Tuesday Morning Prayer

Opening:  O Word made flesh, speak through us: words that bring new life.

Canticle: As honey drips from the honeycomb of bees
And milk flows from the woman who loves her child,
So goes my hope to you, my God.
As a fountain bursts with water,
My heart bursts with praise for you, Lord, through my lips.
My tongue is sweet from conversing with you.
I feel the anointing when I sing your songs.
My face beams when praising you.
My spirit is overflowing with your Love and my soul is shining.
Whoever is fearful will trust in you
And come to wholeness in you.
Whoever trusts you has Eternal life
And cannot be corrupted.  Hallelujah!

Psalm: Your flame kindles all that lives and breathes
And you are the motive force of all activity
The yearning of the grasses, the lovers’ ardor
And they that rise up, live, and eat the fat of the earth will bow down before you
Before you will bow all those who lie down, find peace, and enter the dust
For none can keep alive by his own power – you alone light the soul
Distant ages to come shall serve you, shall be related to you in future times
Those people not yet born
Will sing of your uprightness, your evenness, your brightness
To a people not yet born that is still yet to come
That this is how you are

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.  As it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever.  Amen.

Reading: As he approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging. When he heard a crowd going by, he asked what was happening. They told him, "Jesus of Nazareth is passing by." Then he shouted, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" Those who were in front sternly ordered him to be quiet; but he shouted even more loudly, "Son of David, have mercy on me!" Jesus stood still and ordered the man to be brought to him; and when he came near, he asked him, "What do you want me to do for you?" He said, "Lord, let me see again." Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight; your faith has saved you."

The Lord’s Prayer

Abba our God,
Whom the heavens disclose,
May your name be held holy,
Your authority come.
May your longing be fulfilled
As in heaven, so on earth.
Give us today the bread of tomorrow,
And cancel our debts
As we have already forgiven our debtors.
Do not draw us in
To sinful enticement,
But set us free
From the grip of evil;
For authority and power and glory
Are yours alone, for ever.  Amen.

Prayer: Holy Wisdom, we rest in your goodness:
Guide us with your grace.
For your Church we ask:
Guide us with your grace.
For our world we ask:
Guide us with your grace.
For our communities we ask:
Guide us with your grace.
And for ourselves: When we speak,
Guide us with your grace.
When we desire,
Guide us with your grace.
When we are afraid,
Guide us with your grace.
As we journey this day,
Guide us with your grace.

Collect: Lord, you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth, and sent your blessed Son to preach peace to those who are far off and to those who are near: Grant that people everywhere may seek after you and find you; bring the nations into your fold; pour out your Spirit on all flesh; and hasten the coming of your kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Going Forth: May the outrageous welcome of the Father accept us for who we are; may the incarnation of the Word touch and hold us close, and may the wandering of the Spirit help us risk ourselves for love. Amen.
