Ordinary Time, Fall: Thursday Noonday Prayer

Opening: We are called from the ends of the earth,
We are called from the center of our lives.

Men and women, young and old,
Rich and poor, strong and weak.

We are called into God’s love,
To yearn for justice and to pray for peace.

Psalm: I praise the Lord with my whole heart;
With each breath I sing to my God.
Happy are those who trust him
And surrender their lives to her care.
He creates us in his own image
And fills us with her compassion,
Opening the eyes of the blind
And lifting up those who have fallen.
His justice shines from the depths,
Hidden but always present.
Praise her for what you can fathom;
For what you can’t fathom, praise him.

Reading: Meditation is old and honorable, so why should I
not sit, every morning of my life, on the hillside,
looking into the shining world? Because, properly
attended to, delight, as well as havoc, is suggestion.
Can one be passionate about the just, the
ideal, the sublime, and the holy, and yet commit
to no labor in its cause? I don’t think so.

All summations have a beginning, all effect has a
story, all kindness begins with the sown seed.
Thought buds toward radiance. The gospel of
light is the crossroads of — indolence, or action.

Be ignited, or be gone.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be your Name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
And the power and the glory,
For ever and ever.  Amen.

Prayer: May the power of God this day enable me,
The nakedness of God disarm me,
The beauty of God silence me,
The justice of God give me voice,
The integrity of God hold me,
The desire of God move me,
The fear of God expose me to the truth,
The breath of God give me abundant life.

Going Forth: Christ's light guide us in all we do. Amen.
