Season of Epiphany: Saturday Noonday Prayer

Opening: Give thanks to the Lord, and call upon the holy name.  Make known God’s deeds among the peoples.

Psalm: I look deep into my heart,
To the core where wisdom arises.
Wisdom comes from the Unnamable
And unifies heaven and earth.
The Unnamable is always with you,
Shining from the depths of your heart.
This peace will keep you untroubled
Even in the greatest pain.
When you find this present within you,
You find truth at every moment.
This will guard you from all wrongdoing;
This will guide your feet on the path.
This will temper your youth with patience;
This will crown your old age with fulfillment.
And dying, you will leave your body
As effortlessly as a sigh.

Reading:  Wisdom cries out in the street;
In the squares she raises her voice.
At the busiest corner she cries out:
At the entrance of the city gates she speaks:
“How long, O simple ones, will you love being simple?
How long will scoffers delight in their scoffing and fools hate knowledge?
Give heed to my reproof;
I will pour out my thoughts to you;
I will make my words known to you.”

The Lord’s Prayer: Creator of all,
Alive in all things and greater than all things,
Your naming be held holy.
Your vision of our goodness be made manifest throughout the universe,
And your desires for us brought to fulfillment.
Give us that which is essential for our growth and work.
Offer forgiveness and healing to us as we forgive and heal those around us.
Protect us from unnecessary suffering and wasteful pain.
For all that is beautiful, strong and glorious has its roots in you
and expresses your will and your nature, which we share in, unendingly.  Amen.

Prayer: Jesus, you are the light of the world:
May your light open our eyes to see those in need.
Jesus, you are the light of the world:
May the works of our lives demonstrate  your love.
Jesus, you are the light of the world:
May your wisdom enlighten our decisions.
Jesus, you are the light of the world:
Hear the prayer s of our hearts.

As you enlighten our lives,
May we be light for others.
Amen.

Going forth: Lord, bless the work that we do – bless it, and keep us in your power always.  Amen.
