Cantica Gaudia

Season of Easter: Wednesday Evening Prayer

Opening:  In gratitude for God's grace, let us raise our voices in joyous praise.

Canticle: Lord, you now have set your servant free
To go in peace as you have promised;
For these eyes of mine have seen the Savior,
Whom you have prepared for all the world to see:
A Light to enlighten the nations,
And the glory of your people Israel.

Psalm: Let power be for refreshment
Like rain upon mown grasses
Like showers on the open earth
Let it cause uprightness to grow lush
Let it make peace spring up in abundance
Till the moon falls out of the sky

Glory to God, Source of all being, Eternal Word, and Holy Spirit:
As it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be always.  Amen.

Reading: Your existence, my dear, O love my dear, has been sealed and marked "too sacred," "too sacred," by the Beloved -- to ever end! Indeed, God has written a thousand promises all over your heart that say, Life, life, life is far too sacred to ever end.

The Lord’s Prayer: Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be your name,
Your kingdom come,
Your will be done
On earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
And deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
Now and for ever.  Amen.

Prayer: Creator of the universe, infinite and glorious, you give us laws to save us from our folly; give us eyes to see your plan unfolding, your purpose emerging as the world is made. Give us courage to follow the truth, courage to go wherever you lead. Then shall we know blessings beyond our dreams. Then will your will be done. Amen.

Collect: Living God, in you there is no darkness. Shed upon us through this night the light of your forgiveness, your healing and your peace, that when we wake from sleep we may know once more the brightness of your presence; through our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Going Forth:  Lord, reveal your will and remake your people. Amen.
