Season of Easter: Thursday Compline

Confession: Happy are those whose sins are forgiven, whose wrongs are pardoned. I will confess my sins to the Lord. I will not conceal my wrongdoings.

God forgives us and heals us. We need your healing, merciful God: give us true repentance. Some sins are plain to us, some escape us, some we cannot face. Forgive us -- set us free to hear your word to us, set us free to serve you.

God forgives us. We will forgive others, we will forgive ourselves. We approach God in peace.

Psalm:  You renew me, Lord, by clothing me and holding me in your light.
From above you give me uncorrupt ease
I am like land deep and happy in its orchards,
You, Lord, are sun on the face of the land.
My eyes are clear, dew is on my face.
My nostrils enjoy your aroma, Lord.
You take me to Paradise where I know joy,
Where I worship your glory.
Blessed are they planted in your land, in Paradise,
Who growth in the growth of your trees and change from gloom to light.

Reading: But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb, and she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had been lying, one at the head and one at the feet. They said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said to them, "They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him." When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? What are you looking for?" Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away." Jesus said to her, "Mary!" She turned and said to him in Hebrew, "Rabbouni!" (which means Teacher). Jesus said to her, "Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'" Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, "I have seen the Lord"; and she told them that he had said these things to her.

The Lord’s Prayer: Holy One,
We honor your name.
Let the world know your justice
Here as everywhere.
Give us the food we need
For both the body and the soul.
Forgive us the wrongs we do
As we forgive the wrongs of others.
Keep us safe from the evil
At large or of our own making.
We trust you for you made us and
We are yours, now and always.  Amen.

Prayer: Bless our body and soul this night, that we may be renewed in the forgetfulness of sleep. Visit us in our dreams that we may remember our birth in you. Protect us with your angels of brightness, O God, that we may awake to the freshness of the morning, that we may awake to you as the new day's freshness. Amen.

Going Forth: Blessing, light and glory surround us, and scatter the darkness of the long and lonely night. Amen.
