Season of Easter: Sunday Noonday Prayer

Opening:  O God, make speed to save us. O Lord, make haste to help us.

Psalm: Joy drenched me when you said
Come inside my house
Now our feet stand within your gates, Jerusalem
Planted upon your wholeness

Jerusalem,
Place where each is welcome
All belong

For this is the place
Toward which people ascend
Giving thanks with their mouths
Singing the thousand names of the nameless

Reading: It’s rigged – everything, in your favor.  So there’s nothing to worry about.

Is there some position you want, some office, some acclaim, some award, some con, some love, maybe two, maybe three, maybe four --- all at once, maybe a relationship with God?

I know there is a gold mine in you.  When you find it, the wonderment of the earth’s gifts you will lay aside as naturally as does a child a doll.

But dear, how sweet you look to me kissing the unreal; comfort, fulfill yourself in any way possible – do that until you ache, until you ache…  then come to me again.

The Lord’s Prayer: Abba our God,
Whom the heavens disclose,
May your name be held holy,
Your authority come.
May your longing be fulfilled
As in heaven, so on earth.
Give us today the bread of tomorrow,
And cancel our debts
As we have already forgiven our debtors.
Do not draw us in
To sinful enticement,
But set us free
From the grip of evil;
For authority and power and glory
Are yours alone, for ever.  Amen.

Prayer: On this day that the Lord has made,
let us pray for the people he has redeemed.

That we may live as those who believe in the triumph of the cross: Lord, hear our prayer.

That all people may receive the good news of his victory: Lord, hear our prayer.

That those born to new life in the waters of baptism
may know the power of his resurrection: Lord, hear our prayer.

That those who suffer pain and anguish
may find healing and peace in the wounds of Christ: Lord, hear our prayer.

That in the undying love of Christ
we may be united with all who have died in the faith of Christ: Lord, hear our prayer.

Let us commend the world, in which Christ rose from the dead,
to the mercy and protection of God. Amen.

Going Forth: Let us go into the world rejoicing -- it is Christ who goes before us.
