Cantica Gaudia

Season of Easter: Sunday Morning Prayer

Opening:  Alleluia! Christ is risen! The Lord is risen indeed! Alleluia!

Canticle: In the beginning was the Word,
And the Word was with God.
And the Word was God:
He was in the beginning with God.
All things were made through him,
And without him was not anything made that was made.
In him was life
And the life was the light of the human race.
The light shines in the darkness,
And the darkness has never overcome it.

Psalm: I lift my eyes to the mountain peak –
Where does my help come from?
It comes from you
Maker of heaven and earth
Who holds my foot firm on the path up
Who’s constantly present
Everywhere aware

Look!
With you there’s no obscurity
Nothing is dim, asleep, inert
To those who question and struggle
You respond, keep hold, give cover
So that by day the sun won’t burn
Nor by night the moon mesmerize

You guard against evil
Enfold and reveal the soul

Guard my arrival
Secure my departure –
Now:

Always

Glory to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit
As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever.

Reading: Would any seed take root if it had not believed His promise, when God said, "Dears, I will rain. I will help you. I will turn into warmth and effulgence, I will be the Mother I am and let you draw from My body and rise, and rise."

The Lord’s Prayer: Seed and source,
Far in the distance and in our souls,
You are holy and make us whole.
May we perceive your divine will
That loved us into being
Help us to join your creative force
And let it prosper here.
Give us what we need to survive,
And release us from our transgressions
As we release others from theirs.
Keep us away from paths of destruction
And from those who would ruin what you have made,
For you are the matrix of life, love and wisdom,
Now and forever.  Amen.

Prayer:  Christ, you are risen with the sun, you are light in our darkness, warmth in our cold. You are peace and hope and joy, for you went willingly to death. You turned defeat and failure into victory for all. You live eternally and with you live millions living and dead, who trust in you.

May we find our true place in your living body, and may the new covenant through us bring healing and reconciliation to this wounded world.

Alleluia, you are risen, and we are risen with you. Praise and glory to the living God.

Collect:  Open our eyes to see your glory in the smallest things, that we would live with the faith and the boldness required to believe that all the way to heaven truly is heaven. Amen.

Blessing: With angels and saints and all who glory in God, we sing Alleluia, Alleluia.
