Ordinary Time, Early Summer: Wednesday Evening Prayer

Opening: Let my prayer be set forth in your sight as incense, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

Canticle: Glorify the Lord, all you works of the Lord,
praise him and highly exalt him for ever.

In the firmament of her power, glorify the Lord,
praise her and highly exalt her for ever.

Glorify the Lord, you angels and all powers of the Lord,
O heavens and all waters above the heavens.

Sun and moon and stars of the sky, glorify the Lord,
praise him and highly exalt him for ever.

Glorify the Lord, every shower of rain and fall of dew,
all winds and fire and heat.

Winter and Summer, glorify the Lord,
praise her and highly exalt her for ever.

Glorify the Lord, O chill and cold,
drops of dew and flakes of snow.

Frost and cold, ice and sleet, glorify the Lord,
praise him and highly exalt him for ever.

Glorify the Lord, O nights and days,
O shining light and enfolding dark.

Storm clouds and thunderbolts, glorify the Lord,
praise her and highly exalt her for ever.

Psalm: Don’t push me away
Don’t remove your natural love
Remind me of the joy I find in immersion in you
Support me – free me –
And I will remember you to all who’ve fallen away
And they’ll rise up, face to face with you again
Deliver me from division within myself
That I can find my tongue to sing your allness –
Open my lips and my mouth will praise you
For this is what you desire, not sacrifice

Glory to God, Source of all being, Eternal Word, and Holy Spirit:
As it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be always.  Amen.

Reading: Mercy, there have been revelations.
Grace, there has been realisation. Still, you must
travel the path of time and circumstance.

The further you go, the more it comes back to paying attention.
The rough skin of the tallowwood, the trade routes of lorikeets, a sky lifting
behind afternoon clouds. Staying close to the texture of things.

People can go before you and talk all they want,
but only one thing makes sense: the way the world enters
and finds its voice in you: the place you are free.

The Lord’s Prayer: Eternal Spirit, Earth-maker, Pain-bearer, Life-giver,
Source of all that is and that shall be,
Father and Mother of us all,
Loving God, in whom is heaven

The hallowing of your name echo through the universe!
The way of your justice be followed by the peoples of the world!
Your heavenly will be done by all created beings!
Your commonwealth of peace and freedom
Sustain our hope and come on earth.
With the bread we need for today, feed us.
In the hurts we absorb from one another, forgive us.
In times of temptation and test, strengthen us.
From trials too great to endure, spare us.
From the grip of all that is evil, free us.
For you reign in the glory of the power that is love,
Now and for ever.  Amen.

Prayer: Be present, Spirit of God, within us, your dwelling place and home, that this house may be one where all darkness is penetrated by your light, all troubles calmed by your peace, all evil redeemed by your love, all pain transformed in your suffering, and all dying glorified in your risen life. Amen.

Collect: Holy Wisdom, in your loving kindness you created and restored us when we were lost: inspire us with your truth, that we may love you with our whole minds and run to you with open hearts, through Christ our Savior. Amen.

Going Forth:  May Christ our redeemer bring us healing and wholeness.
