Cantica Gaudia

Advent: Sunday Noonday Prayer

Opening: I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go to the house of the Lord."

Psalm: This that I say will be written down
For a coming generation
So that those not yet born
Will know how to praise your unsayable name
That you looked down from the center
Opened out the bud of your eye
Full into the world
To bear the sighing of the desperate
To loosen up the binding of death
That the dwellers in Zion can sing out your name
That all Jerusalem can dance your praise
Gathered together in harmony in your service

Reading: Stay awake! Happy those servants who are alert and ready when their master comes.

When much is given, more will be demanded. When a great deal is given on trust, a great deal more is expected. Stay awake! Your master is coming. Stay awake!

The Son of Man comes at the least expected hour. The kingdom of God is upon us.

The Lord’s Prayer:

Holy One,
We honor your name.
Let the world know your justice
Here as everywhere.
Give us the food we need
For both the body and the soul.
Forgive us the wrongs we do
As we forgive the wrongs of others.
Keep us safe from the evil
At large or of our own making.
We trust you for you made us and
We are yours, now and always.  Amen.

Prayer: Help us, O God our Savior
Deliver us and forgive us our sins.
Look upon your congregation
Give to your people the blessing of peace.
Declare your glory among the nations
And your wonders among all peoples.
Let not the oppressed be shamed and turned away
Never forget the lives of your poor.
Continue your loving-kindness to those who know you
And your favor to those who are true of heart.
Satisfy us by your loving kindness in the morning
So shall we rejoice and be glad all the days of our life. Amen.

Going Forth: Let us go forth to do God's work. Alleluia!
