Cantica Gaudia
Advent: Monday Noonday Prayer
Opening: Behold the desire of all nations will come, and the house of God will be filled with glory, alleluia.
Psalm: The heavens are the praise of your wonders
Your faithfulness shakes the hallways of the holy ones
For where in the skies can your measure be found?
And who is like you even among all the powers that be?
The hallways of the powerful shrink before your presence
And all greatness trembles before the mention of your name
Whose power can compare with your endlessness
That is wreathed all round with steadfast kindness?Reading: Why do you not think of him as the one who is coming, who has been approaching from all eternity, the one who will someday arrive, the ultimate fruit of a tree whose leaves we are? What keeps you from projecting this birth into the ages that are coming into existence, and living your life as a painful and lovely day in the history of a great pregnancy?
The Lord’s Prayer:
Abba our God,
Whom the heavens disclose,
May your name be held holy,
Your authority come.
May your longing be fulfilled
As in heaven, so on earth.
Give us today the bread of tomorrow,
And cancel our debts
As we have already forgiven our debtors.
Do not draw us in
To sinful enticement,
But set us free
From the grip of evil;
For authority and power and glory
Are yours alone, for ever. Amen.Prayer: Eternal God, grant to us this day and every day such readiness and delight in following Christ, that whether our lives are short or long we shall have lived abundantly. Amen.
Going Forth: May God strengthen the hands that work for peace. Amen.
