Advent: Friday Noonday Prayer

Opening: Our King and Savior now draws near. Come let us adore him.

Psalm: How precious is your steadfast love, O God;
Mortals take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
They feast on the rich abundance of your house
You give them drink from the stream of your delights.
For with you is the well of life
And in your light we see light.
Continue your loving kindness to those who know you
And your justice to the true of heart.
Let not the foot of pride come against me
Nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.

Reading: The world is
Not with us enough
O taste and see

The subway Bible poster said,
Meaning The Lord, meaning
If anything all that lives
To the imagination’s tongue,

Grief, mercy, language,
Tangerine, weather, to
Breathe them, bite,
Savor, chew, swallow, transform

Into our flesh, our
Deaths, crossing the street, plum, quince,
Living in the orchard and being

Hungry, and plucking
The fruit.

The Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be your name,
Your kingdom come,
Your will be done
On earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
And deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
Now and for ever.  Amen.

Prayer: Jesus, love of all loving, in the ploughed-up earth of our lives you come to plant the trusting of faith. A small seed at first, faith can become within us one of the most unmistakable Gospel realities. It keeps alive the inexhaustible goodness of a human heart. Amen.

Going Forth:  Let us go forth, rejoicing in the power of the Spirit. Amen.
